Every Person Has a Gift: Dr. Catherine Oleksiw Is Helping People Discover Theirs

Oct 9, 2026

Leadership coach, educator, and Columbia University-trained measurement and evaluation expert Dr. Catherine Oleksiw helps leaders, emerging professionals, and organizations recognize their strengths and put them to work in ways that matter.

PLANO, TX, October 09, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Every person has a gift.

For Dr. Catherine A. Oleksiw, that belief has quietly guided every chapter of her life.

She has coached executives, developed emerging leaders, advised nonprofit organizations, taught graduate students, chaired dissertation committees, and guided doctoral candidates through the long and sometimes difficult journey toward a Ph.D.

The settings have changed. The people have changed. But Catherine has found herself returning to the same idea: people often possess more than they recognize in themselves. Sometimes they simply need the confidence, structure, and support to put those gifts to use.

"My career has never followed a straight line," says Dr. Oleksiw. "It has been nonlinear. I've simply followed opportunities where I believed I could make an impact. Every experience taught me something new, but one truth has remained constant. Relationships matter. People are the greatest resource we have."

Dr. Oleksiw is the founder of Measured Transitions LLC, where she works with organizations on leadership, organizational change, performance, and evaluation. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Measurement and Evaluation from Columbia University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and has spent the past six years serving in academic leadership at The Chicago School.

Now, as she prepares for her next chapter, Dr. O wants to expand that work with organizations, leaders, doctoral students, and professionals who know they are capable of more but may not yet know what that next step looks like.

Her credentials are part of the story.

They aren't the whole story.

Throughout her career, Catherine has worked with people wrestling with self-doubt, uncertainty, transition, or the question of what comes next. That might be an executive carrying greater responsibility, a professional preparing for leadership, an entrepreneur building something new, or a doctoral student wondering whether finishing is even possible.

The circumstances may be different. The work often begins in the same place: creating enough trust for someone to be honest about where they are.

Catherine calls that creating safe space.

But safe does not mean easy.

For her, it means creating an environment where someone can ask a difficult question, admit they don't know something, be challenged, and still know they are respected.

"My goal is to create environments where people can lean into who they are, become comfortable with their gifts, and have the confidence to use those gifts in service of others."

And then comes what she calls "the stretch."

The stretch happens when someone begins moving beyond what is familiar. It can mean questioning an assumption, taking a thoughtful risk, accepting greater responsibility, or seeing an opportunity they might previously have dismissed.

Catherine isn't interested in turning people into someone else.

She wants them to become more comfortable with who they already are and more willing to use what they already have.

"I help the people who help the people," she says. "When leaders become stronger, organizations become stronger. When organizations become stronger, they can serve more people. That's the ripple effect that inspires everything I do."

Her philosophy can be surprisingly simple.

Follow the dream.

Put structure around it.

The second part matters.

Catherine has spent much of her career in measurement and evaluation. She believes in dreams, possibilities, and human potential, but she also believes in asking what is actually working, what is changing, and whether good intentions are producing meaningful results.

That combination has followed her through leadership coaching, organizational consulting, dissertation advising, teaching, research, and performance evaluation.

It also shapes the way she thinks about leadership.

Before someone can effectively lead other people, Catherine believes they need to understand themselves. And she doesn't believe leadership development should suddenly begin when someone receives an executive title.

That is why her work includes established executives as well as high-potential professionals preparing for responsibilities they may not have yet.

Looking ahead, Catherine hopes to broaden her reach through leadership coaching, keynote speaking, management consulting, and conversations with organizations thinking seriously about trust, resilience, purpose, authenticity, and psychological safety.

The goal isn't simply to become louder.

It is to reach farther.

"I want people to recognize the gifts they already have, believe those gifts matter, and have the courage to share them with the world."

For Catherine, some of the greatest evidence that the work mattered doesn't arrive during a keynote or consulting engagement.

It comes later.

Sometimes a former student tells her, "I wouldn't be where I am today if it hadn't been for you."

Sometimes a doctoral candidate tells her that something Catherine said or did made the difference between walking away and finishing.

Those are the moments she remembers.

Helping people recognize what they carry within themselves has quietly connected the different chapters of Catherine Oleksiw's career, from classrooms and dissertation committees to the leaders and organizations she advises today.

Because for Dr. Catherine A. Oleksiw, success has never been measured by applause.

It has always been measured by the lives changed after the conversation.
